First iPad advert goes live during Oscars

The first advert promoting Apple’s iPad device went live last night during the Oscars. The 30-second advert takes the viewer on a whirlwind tour of all of the functions the hotly anticipated tablet style computer is capable of, to a soundtrack of The Blue Van’s 'There Goes My Love’. Report: Sony launching new line of handheld gadgets

Sometime this year, Sony will launch a new smartphone and a portable tablet-like device, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The smartphone will be able to play PlayStation games, and the tablet device will be some combination of a Netbook, e-reader, and PlayStation Portable, according to "people familiar with the matter" who spoke to the Journal. Apple Goes After HTC In Lawsuit Over 20 iPhone Patents

Apple is using its strong patent portfolio to fight iPhone competitors in court. Its latest target is HTC. Apple has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the cell phone manufacturer. The suit involves “20 Apple patents related to the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware.” Steve Jobs is quoted in a press release saying: “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. Apple admits child labour was used to build iPods and iPhones in Chinese factories

Technology giant Apple has admitted that child labour has been employed at some of the factories that build its iPods, computers and mobile phones. An audit found that at least eleven 15-year-old children were found to be working in three factories that supply Apple in the last year. It said that child workers were now no longer being used at the sites, or were no longer underage. The exact location of the factories has not been identified.
